Managing your sub-resellers

If you sell through other companies — resellers, agencies, hosting partners — each of them is a sub-reseller sitting underneath you in Partner Center. You create them, see them, and manage them yourself, from the Sub-Resellers page. You don't need to ask us.

Everything on this page is scoped to your own downline. You can see and act on the partners below you and nobody else's; another partner at the same level as you is invisible to you, and you are invisible to them.

Creating a sub-reseller

Open Sub-Resellers in the sidebar and click New sub-reseller. You'll be asked for:

FieldWhat it's for
Partner nameThe company's name, as it should appear to you and on statements.
Owner emailThe person who will run the account. They get the invitation.
Owner first / last nameHow that person is addressed in the invitation email.
Owner languageWhich of the seven supported languages their invitation and portal appear in.

Creating the partner and inviting its first owner happen in one step. That person receives the same invitation email you did — single-use link, expires in 12 hours, in the language you chose — and once they set a password they land in their own Partner Center with their own customers, licenses and statements.

Owners and members can create sub-resellers. Billing and read-only roles cannot, and won't see the page at all.

If the invitation fails to send

The partner may already have been created; check the result before retrying. Don't click New sub-reseller a second time — partner names aren't unique, so a retry gives you two partners with the same name rather than fixing the first one. Ask us to re-send the invitation instead.

Sub-resellers of sub-resellers

Your sub-resellers can create their own sub-resellers, on the same screen, under the same rules. Everyone they create appears in your downline too, because your downline is everything beneath you — not just the level directly below.

Renaming, suspending and resuming

Each row on the Sub-Resellers page has two actions:

  • Rename — changes the partner's name. Nothing else about them moves.
  • Suspend / Resume — turns their portal access off and back on.

Read the suspend warning before you confirm it. Suspending a partner locks out everyone in their team — and every partner below them, all the way down. Someone three levels beneath the partner you suspended loses access too, and they will have no idea why. Suspending is reversible: click Resume to remove that suspension. A descendant that is independently suspended, or still has another suspended ancestor, remains blocked.

One thing suspension deliberately does not do: it does not touch their licenses. Their customers' installations keep running. Suspension controls who can log in to Partner Center, not whether the software their customers paid for keeps working. If you need to stop licenses as well, that is a separate, deliberate act — talk to us.

You cannot suspend or rename yourself from this page; your own row isn't listed here. That's on purpose. Suspending your own partner would lock you out of the portal with no way back in.

Seeing where you sit

The Hierarchy page shows your position in the tree: the partner directly above you (whoever supplies you), and everything below you as an expandable tree, with each partner's type and status.

It's an orientation view — everyone on your team can open it, including billing and read-only. It shows your own line only: you see who supplies you and who you supply, never anyone else's.

What you can't do here

A few things stay with us deliberately, so it's clear where the line falls:

  • Creating a distributor. Sub-resellers you create are always the reseller tier. Distributor-tier partners are set up by us as part of agreeing commercial terms.
  • Contracts and pricing. A new sub-reseller has no contract until one is agreed — see Issuing licenses for what that means in practice.
  • Deleting a partner. There's no delete. A partner that should stop trading gets suspended; the commercial history stays intact because your statements are built from it.
